Luther's Morning Prayer
I thank You, my Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your beloved Son, that You kept me safe from all evil and danger last night. Save me, I pray, today as well, from every evil and sin, so that all I do and the way that I live will please you. I put myself in your care, body and soul and all that I have. Let Your holy Angels be with me, so that the evil enemy will not gain power over me. Amen.
Prayer for Ann
Father, we humbly ask you to grant relief and healing to Ann, who is suffering from Lupus. Give her Your peace and Your strength as she deals with her condition, and grant patience and understanding to her family and friends. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer of the Day
Almighty God, You have called Your Church to witness that in Christ You have reconciled us to Yourself. Grant that by Your Holy Spirit we may proclaim the good news of Your salvation so that all who hear it may receive the gift of salvation; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Prayer for our Homebound Friends
Our Father who loves us all unconditionally, we ask you to be with those people who love You, but who cannot attend worship because they are homebound. We ask that you bless them, cheer them with calls and visits from friends, and sustain them with Your peace when they are lonely or discouraged. In Christ's precious name, Amen.
Prayer for our Nation
Almighty God, You have given us this good land as our heritage. Grant that we remember Your generosity and constantly do Your will. Bless our land with honest industry, truthful education, and an honorable way of life. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion, from pride and arrogance, and from every evil course of action. Grant that we, who came from many nations with many different languages, may become a united people. Support us in defending our liberties, and give those to whom we have entrusted the authority of government the spirit of wisdom, that there may be justice and peace in our land. When times are prosperous, may our hearts be thankful, and in troubled times do not let our trust in you fail; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
Luther's Evening Prayer
I thank Thee, my Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Thy dear Son, that Thou hast graciously kept me this day, and I pray Thee to forgive me all my sins, where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night. For into Thy hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Thy holy angel be with me, that the Wicked Foe may have no power over me. Amen.
